We Are Girls SOAR High (mission statement)
We are Girls SOAR High (GSH), a club at SOAR High School, dedicated to empowering female and non-male voices within male dominated environments. According to statistics, more than 86% of women in california report experiencing some form of sexual harassment. As students on a college campus, young girls are vulnerable to harassment from older college students that perpetuates negative self imagery for themselves. We hope to promote changes in biased curricula when concerning female and reproductive health. As a team, we recognize the danger and vulnerability young girls face due to the stigma surrounding their health & safety. We hope to shape lifelong learners and advocates through our club and community outreach in order to teach without judgment and prejudice toward the female experience and create resources for our school .

I'm Ms. Justice, and I'm the advisor for GirlsBuild! I love to see our youth involved in the community and promoting activities that address social justice issues. I also teach Math (Trig/Pre-Calc and Algebra 1) here at SOAR, along with AVID 10. This is my first year at SOAR; I've also taught at Palmdale HS and Pete Knight HS.
Hello! My name is Michelle and I'm currently in 12th grade. I love being able to hear the perspectives of all of our girlsbuild members because I believe they all bring something so unique! I am proud of leading our team for the past few years especially in my last school year. A fun fact about me is that I love psychological thrillers.
My name is Emily Martinez. I am currently a sophomore at SOAR High School. I have been involved in Science Olympiad, ASB, and GirlsBuild over the past year. Some things about me are that I love being a leader and being involved. I also really like art, writing, and reading, which is why I want to be an Art History major. GirlsBuild has taught me a lot, including the importance of communication and responsibility.
Hello, my name is Kevin Flores, and I am a senior. My favorite thing about Girlsbuild is the opportunity it gives me to connect with others. I also enjoy learning about important situations that I might not be aware of. I enjoy watching movies and programming in my spare time, and I hope to contribute as much as I can to our endeavour.
I am Orisha Lamon, a senior at SOAR High School. My favorite part about being a member of GirlsBuild is forming bonds with students and amplifying the voices of women of color and non-male aligned individuals. I am also interested in transportation and healthcare equity and access for youth!
Hi, I'm Chanel Worley and I'm a freshmen at SOAR High School. I really love helping out others and making a difference and that's what we do in Girls Build! I also really love the community of people in this club and that we're making an impact on our community. Outside of school, I love boxing, reading, writing, and roller skating.
My name is Jennifer and I am currently a sophomore. Chemistry is currently my favorite subject and in the future, I would like to become a pharmacist. I enjoy being in G.S.H because of all the opportunities they create. The club is all about lifting others up and making us all feel empowered!
I'm Elizabeth Quinteros and a Senior at SOAR High School. While being a member of GirlsBuild I have come to love the ability of us, high school students, being able to make a change in our community no matter how big or small. The community that we have cultivated in the club allows for each member to present their ideas and act on them too.
