Coping During Times of Crisis
A virtual event our team hosted with Mr. Dana LaMon, our team Coordinator and World Champion of Public Speaking, as our keynote speaker. Mr. LaMon gave an amazing, motivational, and uplifting talk that was much needed during the crisis of COVID-19. He spoke to students and adults from SOAR High School, Girls Build teams, and others in our community. We were able to connect with other Girls Build teams through this event, and we had the joy of listening and learning from Mr. Dana LaMon.
I must believe that I can enjoy the abundance of life!" -Mr. Dana LaMon, World Champion of Public Speaking, our team coordinator.

Our Team was interviewed and featured on the front page of the Antelope Valley (AV) Press. The article was about how we are continuing to work and make an impact, even while confined to home.
Volunteering and Donating food to Grace Resources
With the COVID-19 school closures and cancellations of the L.A. County Air Show and the Home and Garden Show, our team began to focus on other needs in our community. During this pandemic, people who are homeless do not have a home to go to, nor food on their table. Organizations like Grace Resources, are continuing to work to meet the needs of these people in our community, while putting new practices into action. We volunteered at Grace Resources preparing food for the homeless. Due to COVID-19, there was a new system put in place at Grace Resources: volunteers prepared plates ahead of time, instead of serving food as people came into the building. The plates of food were then handed to people who are homeless, who made a line in front of a door to receive their food. We also donated two trays of food to Grace Resources; one with rice and the other tray with beans.
Attended a Democratic Debate for State Senate District 21
We attended a Democratic Debate for State Senate for District 21. We live streamed this event, so our community could get informed about the candidates who were running for the office of State Senator for District 21. Our team coordinator: Mr. Dana LaMon was one of the candidates running for this office, and we also attended to support him.
Volunteering for a Political Campaign for California State Senate
We volunteered for the political campaign of our coordinator and mentor: Mr. Dana LaMon. We volunteered by sending text messages about Mr. LaMon's campaign and contacted those who are registered to vote, to ask them to consider our mentor when voting. We became involved in the political process and learned more about what it takes to run for a government office.
